The Wilson HotelBIG SKY — On Friday, developers and community leaders in Big Sky hosted a double celebration to announce the opening of several new businesses and the groundbreaking of the area’s first chain hotel.

A small crowd gathered to watch officials plunge shovels into the dirt to mark the start of construction for the Wilson Hotel, a Marriott Residence Inn. Located east of the newly built Town Center space, the 129-room hotel will feature a full-service restaurant, fitness center and pool.

The Wilson, named after President Woodrow Wilson and nearby Wilson Peak, is set to open for the 2018 ski season.

Big Sky Resort recently unveiled its new ten-year plan for the future development on the mountain and in Mountain Village. The site, bigsky2025.com, offers an interactive tour and a glimpse into Big Sky's future. From lift additions to on-mountain dining to a facelift of the main base area, there are many new developments in store for the once-sleepy resort town which showcases the massive Lone Peak and surrounding mountains within the Big Sky Resort's boundaries.

This is big news for anyone living in Big Sky or planning to live in or own property in the Big Sky area. Whether you like to ride the Lone Peak tram to the summit or you are a green run skier, your on and off mountain experience at Big Sky will be evolving.

After a long wait and much anticipation, Elevation 6000 condos are again being constructed in Big Sky Town Center. The new condos are similar in exterior appearance and floorplan to the original Elevation 6000 condos with a few minor improvements. The new E6000 condos, as they are locally referred to, will feature 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths and between 2400-2700 finished square feet with ample garage space, open floor plans and multiple outdoor decks which will open to Big Sky Town Center's open space park system. Sam Byrne, Big Sky developer, predicts more growth of high-end homes

The co-founder of the Boston-based investment firm with ownership stake in the Yellowstone Club, Moonlight Basin and Spanish Peaks explained his long-term plans Monday for real estate development at the company’s properties in Big Sky.

Sam Byrne’s CrossHarbor Capital acquired the private 13,600-acre Yellowstone Club in 2009, then partnered with Boyne Resorts in 2013 to buy the 8,100-acre Moonlight Basin and 3,530-acre Spanish Peaks.
